Does your business use a signature verification system to verify the identity of an individual? What is the process do you follow in order to validate the identity of a user? What are the different methods involved in the signature verification system? Generally, in the online signature verification system, businesses prefer to use the two different advanced techniques– One is the Static (Image-Based) verification system and another one is Dynamic (Real-time) online handwritten signature verification solution. In the static method, a user can directly upload the scanned signature images from the computer system to electronic signature software whereas in the dynamic (Real-time) online handwritten signature verification system, the user can directly sign the signatures using mobile phones, touch-pads, and from any other signature capturing devices.

How Does the Signature Verification System Works?

Basically, businesses use signature verification system to verify the authenticity of your customer’s or your client’s. But, how does the system works? Does my client operate the system? Is your business effectively utilizes the solutions of an electronic signature platform which can be used to send the documents quicker and faster? Then, you must integrate the signature verification solution with an online electronic signature platform. Generally, on an e-signature platform and in the company settings, you need to select whether you want to assign your client with an image-based verification system or with a real-time online handwritten verification solution. If it is an image-based, then your client should upload the scanned signature copy (or) if you have selected the real-time handwritten signature verification system, then your client has to sign the signatures using the touch-pad, or smart mobile device.

However, for any type of the signature verification method, the operation or the workflow always remains the same. At first, to access the system the user must have registered with the solution either it can be dynamic or static. While in the process of registration, the user needs to provide 5-10 sample specimen signatures and from the sample user’s signatures, the system extracts the unique characteristics and stores them as templates in the dynamic system database. Once the user gets successfully registered with the system, then he/she can operate the system at any time and from anywhere in the world.

While you are assigning the documents to your client, you need to specify whether you want your client to sign either in a static format or in a dynamic format. In the static format, your client needs to provide scanned signature copies whereas, in the dynamic, your client has to sign using a touchpad or mobile device. Whenever your client provides signatures using a static or dynamic method, the system takes the current user’s signatures and compares them against the stored templates in the database. Based on similarity score which is a customizable factor, the user’s signatures can be authenticated or rejected. Once the user’s signatures’ are successfully authenticated, then the signing process gets completed.

In the static-based signature verification method, the system then compares the x & y ratios, signature angles, etc. whereas in the dynamic verification, the system compares the velocity, pressure, pen up’s and down’s, etc. and almost 13 unique characteristics for the authentication of the current user’s signature with pre-enrolled templates in the database.

Once the authentication is performed successfully, then the system automatically selects the best-scored user’s signatures and stores them as templates in the database. This process is called as gradual enrollment.
