Ransomware is a malicious malware used for data kidnapping. It encrypts the targeted user’s files and demands money to release the decryption key. We saw a huge surge in ransomware attacks last year. The Technology Services Group (TSG) has created an infographic which shows how this malware is being used to rob internet users.

Hackers use tactics like spoofing to impersonate senior executives and managers to get access to key information. Ransomware spreads through infected programs, email links/attachments, and websites/applications.

The infographic advises us to avoid paying hackers, as the payment does not guarantee you will get access to your data. To protect yourself from such attacks, always backup your data and do not open email links and attachments sent by unauthentic sources.
