Microsoft’s Surface is a range of sleek, stylish and very portable computing devices that came out with the launch of Windows 8. Initially, they ran Windows RT OS, had less processing power that was just competing tablets, not the mainstream notebooks. Then by the launch of later Surfaces like the Surface 2 Pro and Surface 3 Pro, really good and acceptable systems came out. With 4th gen i3, i5 and i7 CPUs and Full HD touch displays, they started to create their intense competition in the notebook market. Microsoft got a name for their Surface because of its tablet and laptop forms.

That’s the old story. Now after several releases, people are waiting for the launch of next big Surface, the Surface Pro 4. The 2-in-one is said to be announced at the upcoming Windows 10 event on January 21. Maybe or may not be. There are lots of things being speculated about it. These things, we don’t know if they are right at this time. Now we are just going to look at those things and wait for it to become real or reel.

Processor

Surface Pro 4 by some is said to arrive a lot more powerful that it might try to compete directly with Apple’s (Notebook PC) MAC book Pro. Christian Today believes that it should use Intel’s Broad-well processors to do so. Intel’s Broad-wells are 14nm based chips with ultra low power consumption and are deployable without fans! That’s a real advantage there for MS. They could build it sleeker without fans. Too bad Broad-well is yet to come out. So it seems like Microsoft will be using an Intel Core M CPU for the Surface Pro 4.

Display & Variants

Display resolution will be similar to Surface Pro 3, like 2160 x 1440 pixels. The display size might break the Surface Pro 4 into two different variants. It could come in two sizes: a 10 inch variant and a 14 inch variant. Both will and should come with Windows 10 OS. Surface Pro 4 is also going to be cheaper than before.
Memory

The Primary memory or just RAM to be used maybe 8 GB, again just like the previous Surface 3 Pro. Now it seems like the next-gen Surface Pro 4 is very similar and same as its current-gen, right? That’s what I think.

The specifications came out are almost same as the Surface 3 Pro. But they launch it in 2 different variants. With not a lot of changes from last gen, are the two variants really necessary? Ok, as I said at the start, this may not be the real specs. The real things will soon be announced by Microsoft (maybe on Jan 21). Also, there might be difference in specs between these two variants. There should be. So we can really expect some different and nicer specifications on the 14 inch variant if not in the 10 inch one.

Tell us in the comment section, what do you think about all these and overall, will you choose a Surface notebook over other laptops available at the same price?
